MindExplorer AudioStrobeâ DECODER
is one of the most advanced and flexible audiovisual stimulation systems
(mindmachines) on the market.
MindExplorer AudioStrobeâ
DECODER
is based on a revolutionary concept – a combination of
relatively simple but highly optimized hardware and a powerful PC software.
AS DECODER can work as a „classic“ light sound stimulation device
(mindmachine); it can also work with specially encoded AudioStrobeâ
CD’s. (Dozens of AudioStrobeâ CD titles are available on the market.) With AS
DECODER, you can even author your own AVS session CD’s or enhance your
favourite music with a light stimulation using included MindExplorer SW
software.
MindExplorer SW is
continuously being developed and is easy to upgrade, so this product never
becomes obsolete, and even more new applications and improvements will be
available in the future.

WARNING:
There are some individuals
that should not use AudioStrobeâ
Decoder (AS Decoder) without medical supervision because pulsing light can
cause seizures in persons with photosensitive epilepsy.
If anyone, who will use AS
Decoder, is subject to any form of seizures, epilepsy or visual
photosensitivity, is using a pacemaker, suffering cardiac arrythmia or other
heart disorders, currently taking stimulants, tranquilizers or psychotropic
medications, specifically including illicit drugs and alcohol, please do not
use AS Decoder without medical supervision.

Setting your system up and running your first session
1. Install the batteries.

Remove the battery cover from the
back of AS Decoder unit.
-
Install 2 „AA“ batteries. Be sure
to observe their proper orientation.

Replace the battery cover.
Note: Any „AA“ batteries
should work; alkaline or rechargeable NiMH batteries are recommended.
2. Connect the Light Frames,
headphones and CD player (or generally any source of AudioStrobeâ
encoded audio signal).

Plug the Light Frames and
headphones into appropriate sockets (see the picture below).

Using included stereo patch cord,
connect AS Decoder’s AUX input with your CD player (or PC soundcard output).

Insert one of the included CD’s to
your CD player.
3. Sit or lay down on a safe
and quiet place, in a comfortable position. Put your headphones on. Start
playing any of the audio tracks. Adjust the audio volume (on the CD player) to
a comfortable level. Put the Light Frames on and adjust the light brightness
(using the wheel on the right side of the Decoder unit). Be sure to keep
your eyes closed during a session. Enjoy the light and sound experience.
Note: If your CD player is
equipped with an anti-skip protection, make sure to turn the anti-skip
protection off otherwise you may hear a noise from the headphones.
Note: Auxiliary input (AUX)
is intended for connecting external sources of AudioStrobeâencoded
audio signal. To work properly, AudioStrobeâ
Decoder must be connected to a source of AudioStrobeâencoded
audio signal.
MultiMode Light Frames
The special MultiMode Light
Frames included with AudioStrobeâ
DECODER
can work in several modes and thus expand the
usefulness of the product. An important part of the whole product
functionality is concentrated into the Light Frames.
There are two small switches
in the Light Frames designated for switching the operational modes.
Upper switch – Mode Selector (2 positions)

„LR“ – Left/Right Mode (left
position) – the left AudioStrobeâ channel controls the left part of Light Frames and
the right AudioStrobeâ channel controls the right part of Light Frames.

„RG“ – Red/Green Mode (right
position) – the left AudioStrobeâ channel controls red LED’s of the whole Light Frames and the right AudioStrobeâ
channel controls green LED’s
of the whole Light Frames.
Lower switch – Color Selector (3 positions) – usage of this
switch makes sense mainly if the upper switch (Mode Selector) is in the „LR“
position

„R“ red color (left position) –
only red color is active.

„G“ green color (middle position) –
only green color is active.
-
„B“ both colors (right position) –
both colors are active.
Note: It is suggested to use
the „B“ both colors mode (lower switch) together with the „RG“ Red/Green Mode
(upper switch), otherwise one of the color channels would not be active.
MindExplorer SW
– audiovisual stimulation / relaxation software
MindExplorer SW is an AudioStrobeâ
compatible audiovisual stimulation software that allows you to create, edit
and perform light & sound sessions on a PC. MindExplorer SW is intended for
self-improvement, relaxation, meditation, accelerated learning, insomnia, pain
control, peak performance and
exploration of altered states of consciousness.
Audiovisual stimulation /
relaxation sessions can be played directly from PC or burned to CD in CD audio
format and played using any common (portable) CD player.
Installation
To install MindExplorer
SW on your PC, please run Install.exe file from MindExplorer_SW
directory on ASD-CD1 CD and follow installator’s instructions.
After installation, when
running the program for the first time, you will be asked to enter your
Registration Name and Code. Please enter your name as Registration Name and
the Registration Code from the back side of the ASD-CD1 CD. Now the
program is fully functional and ready to use.
Hardware setup
Connect your Light Frames
and headphones with AS Decoder unit as described elsewhere in this manual.
Connect your PC’s sound card output with Decoder’s AUX input using included
stereo patch cord.
Playing sessions
Open one of the sessions
distributed with MindExplorer SW from Sessions subdirectory – click on
Open… item from Session menu. Now you can change the total playing time
of the session at MindExplorer SW’s main window by changing Session Length.
Press the Start button at the program’s main window to start playing
the session.
Exporting a session to wav file and burning it to a CD
Open a session. Adjust the
session length (and the other parameters, if necessary) and press the red
„Record to wav“ button next to the Start button. Enter the wav file
name into the appearing save dialog box and press the
Save button. The session will be exported to .wav file.
Note: Please make sure that
you have enough free space on your harddisk because the output .wav files are
usually quite large (typically hundreds of megabytes).
Usually 2-4 sessions can be
burned to a CD in the CD audio format using any common CD burning software.
Once the session wav files are burned to the CD in CD audio format, the audio
tracks can be then played using any (portable) CD player, so it is not
necessary to use a PC for session playing.
Importing 3rd party sessions
MindExplorer SW can import
sessions (also called programs) originally created for MindLab Pro
(filename.ses) and Photosonix line of mind machines (filename.lss). Once
imported to MindExplorer SW, these sessions can be edited and saved in
MindExplorer SW’s native session format (filaname.mxs).

BrainWave Generator is a
brain wave stimulation software that generates
tones with binaural beats.
Effects of brain stimulation range from
relaxation and meditation to
self-hypnosis and alleviation of headaches
and migraines. BrainWave
Generator works on Windows 95/98/NT and
requires a stereo-capable
sound card.
To install BWGen on you PC,
please run bwgen31.exe file from BWGen directory on ASD-CD1
CD.
